We have compiled a helpful list of our most frequently asked questions to get a jump start on providing you with information you need to assist your job search! Read through the answers below and contact us with any additional questions you may have.

What jobs do you have available?

The best place to view the most up to date jobs we have available is the Job Search tab on our website. We update these postings daily to make sure to provide you with the most accurate information. Third party sites like Indeed.com pull our jobs from our website, and we have no control over taking these posts down. If you see a job posted on Indeed that you are interested in, visit our website to make sure it’s still available.

I don’t have a resume, can I still apply?

A resume is not required to apply with us. Simply skip past the option to upload a resume on our application. However, if you do not have a resume, please make sure to be as thorough and detailed as possible when filling out your job history. The more we know about you, the easier it will be to match you with the right opportunity!

How can I retrieve my login for my application?

Once you have applied with us, your information stays on file in our system. You will not be able to update this information without the login you created when you first filled out the application. If you have forgotten the login, please contact us at 361-854-5151, and we can reset the password for you.

Do applicants have to pay for your service?

Our service is free for all our applicants! Our fees are handled through our clients, so there will never be a charge to use Sterling as resource for your job search.

How do I make an appointment with a Staffing Coordinator?

Our Staffing Coordinators schedule their own appointments, and do not take walk-in interviews. This is done to make sure that when you come in to meet with us, you are given the proper time and attention that you deserve! Reach out a Staffing Coordinator by phone or email to schedule your time to come in and meet with us.

What are the qualifications for employment?

All of our candidates are screened thoroughly before being submitted to our clients. Candidates will be subject to a official background investigation, a drug screen, and when applicable, education, credit history, licenses, and skills will be verified and assessed.

I have something on my background, does this disqualify me for jobs?

The answer to this question is entirely dependent on our clients. Some of our clients are second chance employers and are willing to work with issues on a background check, while others require a clear background. The best way to know if your background will bar you from employment is to be honest and upfront with your Staffing Coordinator about any issues that may come up in our investigation. They can speak with you about the specific requirements for each client.

Why can’t you tell me what company the job is for?

Our clients ask for confidentially during their search for the right employee. We never reveal information about our clients until they are ready to set up an interview with you. However, you Staffing Coordinator will give you information about the type of company, environment, and location in advance to make sure that it is an opportunity you are interested in.

When will I get paid?

We issue checks on a weekly basis. You will be paid each Friday for your time for the week prior. So if you start on a Monday, you will receive your first check on the next Friday following your first week of employment. You have the option of picking up your check in our office each Friday, having your check mailed to you at home, or direct deposit into your bank account.

I haven’t heard back from a Staffing Coordinator, what should I do?

Don’t get discouraged if you don’t hear back from us right away! Our Staffing Coordinators reach out to applicants for the positions that we are currently offering. If you don’t meet any of the qualifications for our current positions, that doesn’t mean we won’t be getting a job opening that you would be great for in the future. We keep all our applicants on file and constantly mine through those profiles for candidates. If you feel that you should be considered for a position, don’t hesitate to reach out to your Staffing Coordinator, and they can go over the qualifications with you.
